What is the AppleCD Player Software?
The AppleCD Player software includes
• the AppleCD Player application, which you can use to play audio CDs and CD Extra discs that have both audio and multimedia content
• the latest Apple CD-ROM driver that works with AppleCD Player (AppleCD Player supports Apple CD-ROM drivers versions 5.1.7 and 5.3.2, but does not support version 5.3 or 5.3.1.)
• the CDStrip control strip module
System Requirements
Please note the following requirements for the AppleCD Player application:
• Macintosh Operating System (Mac OS) version 7.1 or later
• Apple CD-ROM drive, 2x or faster
• at least 4000K of available RAM (Low amounts of memory may cause a system crash.)
Where to Get Information About the Software
•For information on enhanced CD discs and using the AppleCD Player application,
see the AppleCD Player Guide. To see the Guide, first open the program by choosing its name from the Apple menu, then choose AppleCD Player Guide from the Guide (?) menu. If you have a version of system software earlier than 7.5, you cannot use Apple Guide. You must instead use the AppleCD Player User's Manual, available from many online services: http://www.apple.com.)
• For information on using the CD-ROM drive, see the instructions that came with the drive or with the computer.
Tips and Troubleshooting
• Web Info does not send URL to Cyberdog.
If you are using Cyberdog as a Web browser and attempt to connect to a URL from the AppleCD Player Web Info window (either by double-clicking the URL or by clicking the Connect button), the URL selected will not be sent to Cyberdog. You need to copy and paste or drag and drop the URL to Cyberdog.
• AppleCD Player has problems recognizing QuAC files.
When you insert a CD whose title does not match the title in the QuAC file, you’ll see a dialog box indicating that the CD does not match the QuAC file. Click Continue, and the AppleCD Player application will function normally.
•The player window closes momentarily then reopens.
When you double-click a QuAC file (a file with a .CDQ extension) or launch AppleCD Player before inserting a CD Extra disc, the player window closes while it reads the CD Extra information and then reopens with the interface for CD Extra interaction.
•Be sure to indicate the CD-ROM drive you want to use.
If two CD-ROM drives are connected to your computer, make sure that the CD-ROM drive that you are planning to play CD Extra discs on is selected (choose Current CD Drive from the Options menu).
